Deafness, a partial or total inability to hear, can profoundly impact children born with it. From an early age, these children face unique challenges in communication, education, and social integration. Without early intervention, deafness can hinder language development, leading to delays in speech and literacy skills. This can affect academic performance and self-esteem.

However, advances in technology, such as cochlear implants and hearing aids, alongside early and consistent use of sign language, can significantly mitigate these challenges. Inclusion in regular educational settings, specialized support services, and fostering a supportive environment are crucial. Understanding and accommodating their needs helps ensure that children with deafness can thrive and lead fulfilling lives.

Recently some Chinese scientists has successfully helped 5 children born with deafness. According to X handle of @ChinaScience, the treatment has successfully helped to restore Bilateral hearing functions and speech perception. This treatment is carried out by injecting vectors genomes into both ears. This is being used to prove that Bilateral gene therapy in treating continental deafness is both safe and efficient.
