Acemagic X1 and GPD Duo: Dual-Screen Notebooks Usher in New Trend at Computex 2024 for Dual Screen Laptops

GPD recently unveiled the first true dual-screen notebook, the GPD Duo, featuring two 13.3-inch OLED displays that fold out vertically. Now, Acemagic has introduced its own dual-screen system, the X1, which it also claims as the world’s first dual-screen notebook. The simultaneous release of these products suggests the beginning of a new trend.

Acemagic showcased the X1 at Computex 2024, revealing its first photos and details. Unlike the GPD Duo, the X1’s screens fold out horizontally.

French tech site Cowcotland spotted the X1 at Computex, capturing images and noting its specs. The laptop is powered by either an Intel Core i7-1265U or Intel Core i7-1255U processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics. It features two 14-inch (1920 x 1200) screens that can be connected to form a front and back display. The X1 weighs approximately 1.8 kg.

According to Cowcotland, the X1 supports LPDDR4 RAM (amount unspecified) and includes two NVMe M.2 2280 slots for storage. It has USB 3.0 and 2.0 type A ports, as well as USB type C ports. The laptop also has two 2-watt speakers and a 4000 mAh battery. Buyers can choose between Windows and Linux. Pricing and availability are yet to be announced.

Despite its impressive features, it's important to note that Acemagic has a somewhat questionable reputation. Earlier this year, the Chinese manufacturer was found to have shipped products with pre-installed spyware. The company claimed this was an isolated incident affecting only the "first shipment."
