Apple Launches 2024 Back to School Promotion with Free Gift Cards and Discounts for Students

Apple's online education store in the United States and Canada is currently down as the company gets ready to launch its annual Back to School promotion for university students.

During these sales, students receive a free Apple gift card when purchasing a Mac or iPad. This year's promotion is expected to boost sales of the new M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro models.

Last year, U.S. students could get up to $150 with a Mac purchase and up to $100 with an iPad purchase. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this year Apple will again offer up to $150 in gift cards with Mac purchases and a 20% discount on AppleCare+. Gift cards will also be available with iPad purchases, though Gurman did not specify the amount.

Apple started promoting its Back to School sale on social media in early June, with some Instagram users seeing ads for Mac discounts aimed at college and university students.
