Google has announced that it will offer its AI technology, Gemini, to teen students using school accounts, after previously making it available to teens with personal accounts. Educators will also gain access to new tools. The aim is to prepare students for a future with generative AI by providing real-time feedback to enhance their learning. Google assures that student data from chats will not be used to train its AI models and has implemented measures to prevent inappropriate responses. Gemini, available in English across more than 100 countries, will be off by default until activated by admins.
Additionally, Google is introducing the Read Along feature globally in its Classroom platform. This feature aids in developing reading skills with real-time support and allows educators to assign reading activities and track student progress. Google is also piloting personalized story generation tailored to student needs.

To support educators, Google is simplifying the creation and management of interactive lessons and offering new grading tools, including the ability to mark assignments as missing or complete and perform bulk scoring.
