The company is also discontinuing the Carbon Black Series S and replacing it with a white version that features a 1TB SSD and costs $350. Additionally, a new Xbox Series X with a disc drive and 2TB of storage will be available for $600.

This announcement aligns with Microsoft's ongoing focus on digital gaming and subscription services like Game Pass, amidst reports that the PS5 is outselling Xbox Series consoles by a 2:1 ratio. As a result, physical Xbox game sections in stores have become minimal, and some first-party titles, such as Hellblade 2, are not getting physical releases. Despite speculations about a multiplatform strategy, Microsoft remains committed to its gaming consoles, promising a future "next-gen" console that may incorporate generative-AI technology.
