Malicious hacking is becoming increasingly sophisticated, prompting a need for more advanced security technology. Security startup PQShield is addressing this challenge by focusing on "post-quantum" cryptography—solutions designed to withstand future quantum machine attacks. To meet growing industry demand, PQShield has secured an additional $37 million in Series B funding, led by Addition and supported by new and previous investors.

Founded by Oxford academic Ali El Kaafarani, PQShield aims to use the funding to hire more talent and enhance collaboration with existing and new clients, including major companies like AMD, Microchip Technologies, and Nvidia, as well as advisory roles for organizations like the White House and European Parliament.

PQShield's technology is designed in three formats: a system on a chip for hardware, a cryptographic SDK for software integration, and a toolkit for securing messaging services. The startup is well-positioned to lead in the post-quantum cryptography field, especially as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is expected to announce official post-quantum cryptographic standards soon.

The startup's advancements come as the need for sophisticated encryption grows, particularly in safeguarding AI environments and combating AI-driven cyberattacks. PQShield's focus on commercializable tools, in addition to its deep tech solutions, has attracted significant investor interest and positions it as a pioneer in the quantum security market.
