T-Mobile Faces Customer Backlash Over $5 Price Hike on "Lifetime" Guarantee Plans Image credit: T-Mobile website |
T-Mobile is facing backlash after revealing a $5-per-line price hike on plans that were advertised with a "lifetime" price guarantee, resulting in over 1,600 complaints to the FCC, according to ArsTechnica.
Kathleen Odean, a 70-year-old from Rhode Island, is one of the impacted customers. She stated, "The promise was absolutely clear. It's right there in writing: 'T-Mobile will never change the price you pay for your T-Mobile One plan.'" T-Mobile argues that an FAQ page permits price changes, but customers insist this detail was not prominently disclosed. The company's 2017 press release emphasized the guarantee without noting any exceptions.
