Paige, a leader in clinical AI applications for cancer diagnosis, has announced the live, multisite deployment of its AI technology, Paige Prostate Suite, in collaboration with the University of Oxford. This technology is now being used in three hospital systems across England: North Bristol Trust Southmead Hospital, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, and Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust.

These hospitals are employing Paige's AI tools in their standard care practices to enhance patient outcomes for prostate cancer. By using different digital pathology scanners and information systems, they aim to improve diagnostic accuracy and streamline pathologists' workflows. The Paige Prostate Suite aids in detecting, grading, and measuring tumors in prostate biopsies and tissue samples, with a focus on how AI impacts clinical decision-making, service delivery, and resource utilization.

Paige's cloud-based platform is designed to boost productivity and diagnostic confidence for pathologists globally. This technology also assists pharmaceutical companies in evaluating treatment options and developing new biomarkers for drug development, ensuring precise treatment options for patients. Notably, Paige was the first company to receive FDA approval for a clinical AI application in digital pathology.

This study is part of the ARTICULATE PRO project, funded by the Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) Artificial Intelligence in Health and Care Award, managed by the Department of Health and Social Care. The project focuses on safely and effectively leveraging AI technology to benefit patients.

Professor Clare Verrill, Cellular Pathology Consultant and Principal Investigator of ARTICULATE PRO, emphasized the patient-centric approach: "The central focus of ARTICULATE PRO is patients. We aim to ensure they benefit the most from powerful AI technology by systematically studying its benefits in clinical settings."

Dr. Jon Oxley, a uropathologist and Bristol lead of ARTICULATE PRO, highlighted the significance of Paige's AI: "Having studied prostate cancer for over 25 years, it is remarkable that Paige’s AI applications have reached a level of validation that allows for safe and effective clinical use. The Paige Prostate Suite promises to enhance efficiency and improve result reproducibility for patients."

Dr. Bidisa Sinha, a uropathologist at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, expressed optimism about AI's role in cancer diagnosis: "AI can significantly improve the accuracy and consistency of cancer grading and detect small, easily missed areas of cancer. We are proud to lead in digital and computational pathology."
