Scholarship Details:

The Gilbert Lab at Oklahoma State University is seeking two graduate students to start in January 2025. These students will be supported by teaching assistantships through the Department of Integrative Biology, with teaching assignments that may include ecology or introductory biology labs, typically consisting of 2 labs per semester.

Given the low cost of living in Oklahoma, the graduate stipend allows for a comfortable lifestyle. The state is also rich in ecological diversity, making it an exciting place for biologists. The positions available are in Urban Wildlife Ecology for both MS and PhD levels.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be considered for the 2024 Oklahoma State University Scholarship, applicants must:

• Hold an undergraduate degree in biology, ecology, wildlife, statistics, or a related field.
• For PhD applicants, hold an MS in biology, ecology, wildlife, statistics, or a related field.
• Have a record of publishing peer-reviewed scientific papers.
• Possess a strong quantitative background, including data wrangling and visualization in R, statistics (especially hierarchical models and Bayesian analysis), and GIS & remote sensing.
• Have experience with camera trapping.
• Have experience mentoring undergraduate researchers or coordinating volunteers.
• Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills.

Benefits:

Selected candidates will receive a teaching assistantship with full benefits and a 9-month stipend of $20,542 for MS students or $23,870 for PhD students, supplemented with a 3-month summer salary of $4,000-$6,000.
