China Boosts Elderly Care with "Internet Plus" Monitoring and Advanced Technologies

China's Ministry of Civil Affairs has emphasized the need to explore an "internet plus" monitoring mode and other new technologies to enhance elderly care services.

The ministry highlighted that the rapid development of the elderly care industry has introduced new challenges, requiring advanced monitoring efforts. At a recent work meeting, the ministry noted the importance of elevating monitoring practices in elderly care to address these emerging issues.

Key areas such as elderly care funds, operations, and emergency response must be safeguarded against risks. The ministry called for enhanced ethics and professional skills education for practitioners to further standardize, normalize, and professionalize elderly care services.

Additionally, the ministry stressed the importance of improving the rule of law in elderly care by addressing system weaknesses, particularly in key areas and emerging business forms.

As of the end of 2023, China had over 217 million people aged 65 and above, underscoring the urgency of improving elderly care services.
