HP Discontinues E-Series LaserJet Printers Due to Customer Backlash Over HP+ Requirements

HP has decided to discontinue its e-series LaserJet printers following widespread customer dissatisfaction with the mandatory HP+ subscription model, as reported by DruckerChannel. The HP+ program requires a constant internet connection and restricts the use of third-party ink and toner, allowing only HP-original supplies. Although HP+ offers benefits like cloud printing and an additional year's warranty, the obligatory online requirement for these budget-friendly printers was poorly received by consumers.

The discontinuation specifically affects HP LaserJet models with an "e" at the end of their name, indicating the alternative business model. For instance, while the HP LaserJet M110w remains available, models such as the HP LaserJet M110we and M209dwe will no longer be produced or sold. 

Current owners of HP e-series LaserJet printers will still be able to use their devices as initially intended, without any software updates to alter the existing restrictions. They will continue to receive the benefits of HP+, but the company has not made any moves to lift the limitations that have caused customer frustration. Existing customers must continue to deal with these restrictions until they choose to replace their printers.
