Global tech provider IRIS Software Group has announced a partnership with PAGS, a specialist in special education technology, aiming to improve the management of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and neurodiversity in schools across England.
PAGS' technology will be integrated into IRIS' Ed and iSAMS platforms, which are used by over 1,600 educational institutions. This integration will enhance tools for managing the assessment, development, and support of SEN pupils, automating data transfer to reduce the administrative workload for Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs).
Simon Freeman, Managing Director for Education at IRIS, highlighted the challenges faced by children with special educational needs, noting that 25% of autistic children struggle with school attendance and students with ADHD have lower GPAs on average than their neurotypical peers.
The partnership also aims to streamline applications for high-needs government funding, which typically require extensive evidence gathering and take an average of 20 weeks. PAGS' technology will support this process by automatically extracting necessary information from IRIS platforms, reducing the administrative burden on SENCOs.
Freeman emphasized the mutual goal of fostering inclusive education and prioritizing pupil wellbeing: "By working together, we can help educators reduce time spent on manual data entry and provide more data to create impactful strategies for better outcomes, especially for schools facing SEND budget constraints."
