Orion Innovation, a digital transformation and product development service firm, has launched a new initiative to support underprivileged students by establishing a computer lab at TV Nagar High School Ambattur in Chennai. This initiative is part of Orion’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to enhance technological education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The new lab, part of Orion's flagship CSR initiative OI Empower, replaces the previously limited setup with contemporary desktops, smartboards, and air-conditioning units. OI Empower aims to provide underprivileged communities with access to quality education and technological resources, through a series of projects designed to improve learning environments and equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age.
Pradeep Menon, Global Delivery Head for Digital Transformation at Orion Innovation, expressed excitement about the project: “We are thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone by launching a cutting-edge computer lab for the local students. The dedication and enthusiasm of our employees and their family members, who volunteered to teach STEM subjects and life skills over the weekends, fill us with immense pride."
Ramesh Babu Muthuvel, Vice President – Global Delivery at Orion Innovation, who is leading the CSR program, emphasized the importance of educational opportunities for all children: “Every child, regardless of their social status, should be provided with education to succeed and survive in this digital era. We are extremely proud of this Computer Lab Launch as it gives us immense satisfaction in giving something back to society.”
Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, is known for its cultural heritage and booming technology sector, making it an ideal location for such an initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide for underprivileged students.
