We are seeking a motivated Ph.D. candidate to develop advanced wide-field fluorescence lifetime imaging systems, providing unprecedented insights into biological processes.

The successful candidate will be crucial in designing and developing state-of-the-art microscopes and analytical tools. The project focuses on fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), which merges conventional fluorescence intensity measurements with nanosecond-scale temporal dynamics. The aim is to create a wide-field FLIM system with high temporal resolution, incorporating innovative optical light-sheet architecture and novel large pixellated detectors with time-resolved capabilities. This role offers a unique chance to work at the intersection of photonics technologies, spectroscopy techniques, and machine learning approaches, closely collaborating with biologists to enhance these tools for new biological discoveries.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability and motivation to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Coding skills, particularly in Python, are highly desirable.
  • Experience in microscopy or control systems is a plus.
