Porsche to Launch All-Electric Fourth-Generation Cayenne by Mid-Decade Alongside Hybrid and Combustion Models

Porsche's fourth-generation Cayenne will be entirely electric, with rigorous testing of the first camouflaged prototypes already in progress. Despite this shift, Porsche will continue developing its powerful hybrid and combustion engine models, offering three powertrain variants for the SUV well into the next decade.

For over two decades, the Cayenne has balanced Porsche's signature driving performance with everyday comfort and off-road capability. Future models will maintain these qualities, ensuring the SUV's continued success.

Porsche CEO Blume emphasizes that the new electric Cayenne will set standards in the SUV segment, while customers can still choose from a variety of combustion and hybrid models. The third generation of the Cayenne will receive upgrades and be sold alongside the new electric model.

Blume also notes that Porsche aims for over 80% of its new cars to be fully electrified by 2030, contingent on customer demand and regional electromobility developments. The fourth-generation Cayenne, a completely redeveloped model, will play a crucial role in Porsche's push toward electromobility.

The all-electric Cayenne will utilize an advanced version of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture. Michael Steiner, Executive Board Member for Research and Development at Porsche AG, highlights that the PPE architecture's flexibility allows for the integration of cutting-edge technology in high-voltage systems, powertrain, and chassis. This will elevate the Cayenne's driving performance to new heights.

Development goals for the electric Cayenne include high-capacity charging, efficiency, and everyday usability, alongside familiar Porsche driving dynamics. The first camouflaged prototypes, following extensive digital development and testing at the Weissach Development Centre, have already begun real-world testing.

Michael Schätzle, Vice President Product Line Cayenne, states that these prototypes will undergo millions of test kilometers worldwide under various extreme conditions to ensure durability, reliability, and compliance with Porsche's high-quality standards.
