The Innovation for Translation Research Group (ITRG) at the University of Southampton, led by Dr. Zoe Walters and Prof. Timothy Underwood, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team in the Faculty of Medicine, consisting of both basic scientists and clinicians, providing ample opportunities for professional and personal development.
Candidates should possess a PhD in a relevant area and a BSc/MSc in a related life science subject, such as cell biology or immunology. A background in patient-derived cancer co-culture models is advantageous. The role requires robust skills in molecular biology techniques, experience in cancer cell culture, primary tissue explants, and 3D cell culture/organoid techniques. Additionally, candidates should have excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities include supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students. Applications are welcome from candidates nearing completion of their PhD.
