Apple has released the latest developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 Sequoia, bringing exciting new Apple Intelligence features. One standout addition is the "Clean Up" feature, which allows users to remove unwanted objects from photos seamlessly. Using AI, the system intelligently generates the background when an object is removed, even handling shadows and reflections for a natural look.
Users can easily remove objects with just one tap using the smart detection feature or manually brush over unwanted elements. This new tool is similar to Google's Magic Eraser, which was made available to all Google Photos users earlier this year.
Expanding Apple Intelligence with New Tools
The Clean Up feature is part of the broader Apple Intelligence initiative, which first rolled out in July with the iOS 18.1 dev beta. Other features include advanced writing tools, notification summaries for SMS and Mail, natural language search, memory creation in Photos, call transcription, and smart replies in Mail.
Currently, Apple Intelligence is available only to users in English with their region set to the U.S.

In a separate development, Reddit experienced a significant outage on Wednesday afternoon, affecting both its mobile and web applications. By 1:30 p.m. PT, over 150,000 users had reported issues accessing the platform, with many encountering a "Server error" message on Reddit's homepage.
The company acknowledged the problem on its status page, reporting a "degraded status" at 1:16 p.m. PT. After investigating, Reddit identified a software update as the cause of the instability. "Earlier today, we shipped an update that unintentionally impacted platform stability," explained Reddit spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt. A fix was deployed, and by 2:16 p.m., the status page indicated that the issue had been resolved.
Reddit's Recovery and Recent Track Record
While some users may still experience difficulties accessing Reddit, the company expects services to fully restore shortly. Despite this incident, Reddit has maintained a relatively stable platform with few major outages in the past 90 days, according to its status page.
