Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship provides CHF 1,600 per month throughout the minimum statutory period of the chosen master’s program, amounting to CHF 19,200 per year. While the scholarship covers full tuition, students should note that this amount may not be sufficient to cover all living expenses in Switzerland.

Scholarship Details

Each year, UNIL offers several full scholarships to exceptional students. Recipients are exempt from the fixed course registration fees, except for a CHF 80 fee per semester.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the 2025 University of Lausanne UNIL Masters Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Hold a foreign university degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree at UNIL before starting their master’s program.
  • Have an outstanding academic record.
  • Demonstrate a language proficiency of at least B2 in French or C1 in English, depending on the language of instruction for the chosen master’s program.
  • Not be previously registered at UNIL.
  • Pay a CHF 200 administration fee when submitting the application.

Withdrawal from the program will result in the suspension of the scholarship.


Scholarship Duration and Reward

The scholarship provides CHF 1,600 per month from September 15 to July 15 (10 months per year) for the full duration of the master’s program (1.5 to 2 years), except in cases of definitive failure after the first year. Recipients are also exempt from fixed registration fees, except for a CHF 80 fee per semester.


Application Timeline

  • November 1: Application deadline
  • November-December: Application processing by the Social Affairs and Student Mobility Office (SASME) and the Admissions Department
  • December-January: Notification of incomplete or unsuccessful applications
  • January-February: Complete applications reviewed by faculties
  • February-March: Notification of unsuccessful applications by faculties
  • March: Selection of scholarship recipients by the selection board
  • Early April: Notification of the selection board’s decision

Please note that decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
