Ariel Motor Company, known for producing ultra-performance road and track vehicles, has introduced the near-production E-Nomad concept. This electric off-road vehicle could soon join the gasoline-powered Nomad 2 in Ariel’s production lineup, offering a more sustainable alternative without sacrificing performance.
High-Performance Electric Powertrain
The E-Nomad replaces the traditional Ford Focus ST engine found in the Nomad 2 with a 41kWh battery pack and a rear electric motor.

Despite having slightly less power, the E-Nomad boasts impressive acceleration, achieving 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a single-speed transmission, ensuring the same extreme on- and off-road capabilities as its gasoline counterpart.
Advanced Battery and Cooling Systems
To meet the demands of rugged off-road driving, the E-Nomad is equipped with a 300kg battery positioned behind the driver and passenger. This battery features an integrated cooling system and a high-voltage heater, allowing for a 20-80% charge in under 25 minutes.

The battery powers a 92kg drive unit, which includes a motor, gearbox, and inverter, with the motor spinning up to 12,000rpm and driving the wheels through a limited-slip differential.
Innovative Design and Sustainable Materials
The E-Nomad maintains the same design philosophy as the Nomad 2, but with significant upgrades. The new aero-optimized bodywork, crafted from natural plant fibers, not only reduces environmental impact but also extends the vehicle’s range to 150 miles on a full charge.

Features like regenerative braking, adjustable ABS, and selectable Eco and Sport modes help optimize both range and performance, providing drivers with a versatile and enjoyable off-road experience.
Future Production Possibilities
Although the E-Nomad is currently presented as a concept, Ariel Motor Company may consider putting it into production if the public's reaction is positive. If it does reach the market, the E-Nomad is expected to be priced higher than the £67,992 Nomad 2.
