Exicom Acquires Tritium to Expand Global Presence
Exicom Tele-systems, India's largest EV charger manufacturer, has announced a major acquisition that will significantly bolster its global footprint. Through its subsidiary, Exicom Power Solutions B.V. Netherlands, and other step-down subsidiaries, the company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the business and assets of Tritium, a renowned DC fast charger manufacturer headquartered in Australia. This strategic move aligns with Exicom’s ambition to be a leading player in the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure market worldwide.
Tritium’s Legacy in the DC Fast Charger Market
Founded in 2001, Tritium has established itself as a global leader in the DC fast charging market, with over 13,000 units sold across 47 countries. The company is recognized for its advanced and reliable liquid-cooled DC fast chargers, which are designed not only for aesthetic appeal but also for durability in harsh environments. Tritium's proprietary hardware and software innovations simplify the installation, ownership, and usage of EV chargers, making them a preferred choice among users globally.
Strengthening Global Manufacturing and Engineering Capabilities
The acquisition significantly enhances Exicom’s manufacturing and engineering capabilities. Tritium's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tennessee, USA, and its world-class engineering center in Brisbane, Australia, will now become part of Exicom's global operations. This expansion is expected to drive further innovation in the rapidly growing EV charging industry, positioning Exicom as a key player in the global market.
Complementary Portfolios to Drive EV Infrastructure Growth
The acquisition presents a unique opportunity for Exicom to combine its strengths with Tritium’s, creating a complementary product portfolio that can cater to diverse use cases around the world. This synergy will not only enhance the adoption of EV infrastructure but also help Exicom and Tritium serve a broader customer base, ultimately accelerating the transition to electric mobility on a global scale.
Exicom's Vision for an Emission-Free Future in Mobility
Anant Nahata, CEO of Exicom, emphasized that this acquisition aligns with the company's strategic vision to contribute significantly to a sustainable and emission-free future for mobility. Nahata highlighted the complementary sales and product footprints of Exicom and Tritium, noting that both companies have established leadership in their respective regions. He expressed optimism about working closely with Tritium’s employees, customers, partners, and stakeholders to expand the business and provide faster, more reliable charging experiences for EV users worldwide.
As per BloombergNEF’s “Economic Transition Scenario,” EVs are projected to account for 45 percent of global passenger-vehicle sales by 2030 and 73 percent by 2040. This acquisition positions Exicom to play a pivotal role in this growing market, driving innovation and infrastructure development to support the increasing demand for electric vehicles.
