Scholarship Details

Africa CDC's annual scholarship program grants scholarships to 10 young African scholars for an 18-month master’s degree in epidemiology. Preference is given to candidates currently working with the National Public Health Institutes (NPHI) in their respective countries to strengthen the public health workforce capacity of African Union Member States.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for the African Public Health Scholars Programme:

  • A disciplinary background in medical, microbiology, dentistry, statistics, computer science, veterinary science, demography, nutrition, or psychology.
  • A four-year honours degree, an MBBCh, or another health-related degree.
  • Relevant work experience is an advantage.
  • English competency certificate or evidence of prior undergraduate training in English (for non-English-speaking countries).
  • Certified copies of South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) certificates or proof of application to SAQA.
