Chinese automotive giant Geely Auto officially introduced its newest electric SUV, the Galaxy E5, in Guiyang, China. Designed from the outset for the global market, the E5 is built on the Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA) and features a minimalist design aimed at international users.

Advanced Features and Technical Specifications

The Geely Galaxy E5 comes with advanced, self-developed features, such as intelligent electric drive, short blade battery, and CTB technology. With dimensions of 4615 × 1901 × 1670 mm and a wheelbase of 2750 mm, the E5 promises a superior driving and riding experience compared to its counterparts.

Battery Innovations and Performance

Powering the Galaxy E5 is Geely’s innovative Aegis Short Blade Battery, unveiled in June. This lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell boasts an energy density of 192 Wh/kg and a cycle life of up to 3,500 cycles, equating to a million kilometers with minimal range impact. The E5 offers two battery options: a 49.52 kWh pack with a 440 km CLTC range and a 60.22 kWh pack with a 530 km CLTC range.

Price Variants and Market Adaptability

The Geely Galaxy E5 is available in five variants in China, with prices starting from RMB 112,800 (14,436 Euro) and going up to RMB 148,800 (19,041 Euro). All five variants share the same powertrain, featuring a motor with 160 kW peak power and 320 Nm peak torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

Commitment to Safety and Industry Collaboration

During the launch, Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group, announced plans to share the core technology of safely unlocking hidden door handles of new energy vehicles with the entire industry. This initiative aims to enhance NEV safety standards across the board.

Geely's Record-Breaking Overseas Sales and Future Plans

In the first half of 2024, Geely Auto Group's overseas sales grew by over 67% year-on-year, reaching 197,428 units. The pure electric model E5 is poised for global presentation, further boosting Geely’s international expansion and reinforcing the company's commitment to creating a sustainable future and a better world for all.
