Funding for Digital Skills Enhancement

Netcom Training, a Midlands-based provider of digital skills training and Skills Bootcamps, has received Adult Skills Funding (ASF) from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA). This funding aims to support adult education and enhance job prospects in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, and Sheffield.

Netcom Training's Legacy

Established over a decade ago, Netcom Training has been instrumental in providing IT training and certifications, aiding individuals in advancing their careers. With a focus on IT Support Essentials, the training includes digital literacy, computer skills, and cybersecurity, tailored to meet the specific needs of local communities.

Growing Demand for IT Professionals

In the current digital economy, the need for skilled IT professionals is ever-increasing. Recognizing this demand, the SYMCA allocated ASF to Netcom Training to help bridge the digital skills gap, offering a 17-week online program open to individuals aged 19 and over, particularly targeting priority groups.

SYMCA’s Commitment to Regional Growth

A spokesperson for SYMCA explained, "SYMCA has a shared purpose to create a stronger, greener, and fairer South Yorkshire. Our partnership with Netcom helps us deliver on that objective by giving everyone equal opportunity to develop new digital skills, reducing barriers to employment by creating person-centred support."

Expanding Offerings and Demographic Reach

With the secured funding, Netcom Training aims to expand its offerings over the next five years, supporting a broader demographic and equipping individuals with essential skills for the digital job market.

Empowering Individuals with Digital Skills

Kevin Vashi, Managing Director at Netcom Training, highlighted the initiative's goals: "This investment will enable us to broaden our reach and impact in new regions, providing vital digital skills training to adults who need it most. Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in today’s economy."
