Starlink Warns of Service Disconnection for Unauthorized Users

Starlink, the renowned satellite internet provider, has notified users in regions where its service is not yet authorized, including Ghana, that it will disconnect users on mobile plans by August 21st. In an email, Starlink informed customers that those who have been using the mobile plan outside authorized areas for more than two months will lose access to the service after the specified deadline.

Previous Warnings and Continued Access

This isn't the first time Starlink has issued such warnings. Back on April 17, 2024, Starlink sent a similar notice to users in Sudan, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, stating that their service would be terminated by the end of that month. However, despite these warnings, some users continued to access the service after the deadlines had passed.

Starlink's Status in Ghana and Future Licensing

Although Starlink has been approved to operate in Ghana, it has not yet received a formal license to do so. According to the Ministry of Communication, Starlink is expected to secure its operational license by Q3 of 2024.

Performance and Pricing of the Starlink Mini

The Starlink Mini boasts download speeds exceeding 100 Mbps, making it a powerful tool for various activities, including remote education, healthcare services, and business operations. 

Despite its advantages, the Starlink Mini comes with a significant cost—priced at $599, with an additional $30 monthly service fee on top of the existing residential plan. This high cost, along with a 50 GB monthly data cap, could limit its appeal to users who require more extensive data usage.
