Global logistics giant DSV is accelerating its journey toward a more sustainable future on the roads. With more than 20,000 trucks transporting goods for its customers daily worldwide, DSV is increasingly focusing on transitioning to electric vehicles and renewable fuels. In a significant step toward this goal, DSV has partnered with Volvo Trucks to integrate 300 electric heavy trucks into its operations across Europe, contributing to the company's broader plan to deploy 2,000 electric trucks by 2030.
Historic Agreement Between Volvo Trucks and DSV
Volvo Trucks and DSV have signed one of the largest commercial orders for electric trucks to date, solidifying their commitment to reducing carbon emissions in the transport industry. The agreement, which includes the delivery of 300 zero-emission electric trucks, positions DSV to operate one of the largest fleets of heavy electric trucks in Europe. In addition to these electric vehicles, the deal also includes 500 Volvo trucks with highly fuel-efficient diesel and gas drivelines, all scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2026.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed pride in deepening the partnership with DSV, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and commitment in achieving sustainable transport and significant CO2 reductions. Søren Schmidt, CEO of DSV Road, echoed these sentiments, underscoring the importance of cross-sector collaboration in the fight against climate change. He praised the partnership with Volvo Trucks as a critical step in the green transition, showcasing how new technologies can be scaled to become more accessible to customers. Schmidt reiterated DSV's dedication to leading the logistics industry toward a more sustainable future.
Advanced Electric Trucks and Commitment to Climate Action
The new trucks supplied to DSV will include the Volvo FH Aero Electric, which features enhanced aerodynamics for improved energy efficiency. DSV already utilizes electric trucks from Volvo in its operations in Sweden and Denmark, where the company has established charging infrastructure powered by solar panels at its distribution centers.
Both DSV and Volvo Group are committed to the Science-based Targets initiative, aligning their climate actions with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has delivered over 3,800 electric trucks to customers across 46 countries. With eight fully electric models available, Volvo Trucks offers the industry's broadest product lineup, catering to various applications, from urban distribution to regional haul and construction. To date, Volvo's electric trucks have collectively driven over 90 million kilometers, equivalent to 2,200 laps around the world.
